CARPET CLEANING
We use state of the art truck mounted hot water extraction also known as "Steam Cleaning". This method is proven for deep down carpet cleaning and is recommended by carpet manufatures.
What to expect from us:
There are several steps that we take to make sure you get the best carpet cleaning possible.
First Step
For the first step we will need your help, and that will be vacuuming. Please vacuum before we arrive, this can remove 79% of dry soil. We are not asking you to do this because we are lazy, but we just do not want to cross contaminate and bring mold, fleas, lice, etc. into your home by using the same vacuum from house to house.
Second Step
Here is when we take over and we start by pre-spraying your carpet with a mild detergent (not like the ones that you use for laundry this type of detergent is specially formulated for carpet cleaning professionals). We pre-spray the entire carpet not just spotting. The pre-spray we use depends on the type of fiber your carpet is, and the way I determine this is by doing a burn test if needed. Let's explain how a fiber test can be performed: I take a fiber off your carpet and observe the color and action of the flame. Based on the color and the feel of the ash I will be able to tell if it is cotton, rayon, wool, nylon, olefin, acrylic or polyester. Please leave this test to a professional do not try this at home.
Third Step
The third step is agitation, we will distribute the preconditioning agents throughout the carpet fiber , and we use a carpet brush to do so. This step also lifts matted fiber for more deep cleaning.
Fouth Step
This step is time and I take the time to do it right. I allow adequate time for the cleaning agent to break up soul in your carpet.
Fifth Step
This is temperature, the machine I use can produce heat up to 250 degrees. Chemical activity is greatly increased by hot water. Heat aids in cleaning by breaking down surface tension on carpet and by melting greases, fats and waxes. The hotter the water the less need for high concentrations of solvents and detergents in the cleaning solution. Simply stated "hot water cleans better with less chemical needed, and dries faster.
Sixth Step
This is extraction and this is done with extremely hot water around 230 degrees depending on type of fabric or fiber. The hot water hits the carpet at about 500 psi and is followed by a very strong vacuum that removes excess water. Then I take a couple extra wand strokes to suck out even more water. This step is the primary step for rinsing off any detergent residue that will lead to rapid resoiling.
* if this step is not done with proper equipment carpet is left with excess water and detergents which leads to rapid resoiling of the carpet because of the sticky residue.
Seventh Step
This is optional, and this is to apply a fluorochemical soil retardant (Scotchgard). This will be sprayed on your carpet with an electric sprayer then brushed in to evenly distribute across the carpet fibers.
Eight Step
Drying is one of the biggest complaints from customers because the carpet takes too long to dry sometimes even days. In most cases the carpet can be dried within 6 to 8 hours, but will not exceed 24hrs if done right. The main way to accomplish these drying goals is to bring in a state of the art fan that sits 2" off the carpet and blows at 40 mph and covers 300 sq. ft. You as a customer can also help in the drying process by opening windows and creating air flow if weather permits.
We will also move and replace light furniture, sofas, chairs, and small tables as long as you remove all breakables and they are in stable condition. Before we leave, we will give you some booties to cover your shoes in case you need to walk on the carpet. If walking on damp carpet caution should be taken when stepping off to wood, tile or linoleum flooring not to slip.
Ninth Step
This last step is grooming, this will set the nap of the carpet. It helps the long term performance of the carpet by removing loose fibers, pet and human hairs lodged in the carpet. In addition, it removes cleaning tool marks and foot prints off the carpet.
